Our eating-style is buffet-style and “eat all you can” as long as you want.

They prepare 3 to 5 kinds of food. There are Filipino food and at times we also have Japanese food. Students and teachers eat together so students can practice EOP while eating. During that time we can also build a good relationship with each other. Teachers encourage the students to try all Filipino food on the table so that the students will be familiar to it.

Today’s menu was ・・・Grilled pork chop, chayote, vegetable sauté , chicken and corn soup, rice and fruit salad. (6 photos)

GETSではEOP(英語のみで交流すること)を実践しています。
GETS has EOP. Today, I want to tell you about my feelings when I was a student of GETS and I want to tell you the feelings of some of the students and teachers who here at GETS are now.

During my first week in here, I felt a little strange because we spoke English even to fellow Japanese. I didn’t experience this before but I had gotten used to life here. I got my English speaking ability from here and my teachers and the other students could understand my feelings even though my sentences were wrong and I only uttered words. When I spoke wrong English with Japanese, we could understand each other but when we were with teachers, they corrected our sentences and they made us aware when we were making mistakes through their facial expressions. It was sometimes a good way of communication to speak Japanese with fellow Japanese. But the best situation that I can feel the improvement of my English skill is when I conveyed my feelings in English.

I asked students and teachers of GETS what they think about EOP(English 0nly Policy).

* a student(a male in his early twenties)
It’s okay for me because I already knew about the GETS EOP. It’s also difficult for me, that’s why I sometimes use my dictionary and I ask my teachers how I can say something. I agree to EOP. I’m taking it as a challenge.

* a student(a male in his late twenties)
It’s very hard for me. I can’t express my character well.
I want to speak English like Osaka style but I can’t. For example, “What the hell!!” haha))”

* a student(a female in her early twenties)
I’m happy because I want to learn English. I want to improve my grammar well through EOP.

* 先生
* a teacher
It’s a good policy.
Anybody can improve his or her English skills. We can also help everyone to become a good speaker of English especially the students who want to speak fluently.

* 先生
* a teacher
It’s easy to communicate with students. EOP helps students to think from Japanese to English easily.
I think that it is necessary to sometimes change English into Japanese for a beginner. The most important thing is to just try!!!

The student who came here 2 weeks ago shared his thoughts with me.

I don’t know whether my English skill improved or not since 2 weeks ago. I didn’t read updates in English on SNS in the past but recently I’ve read them and now I have some ideas of what is going on because of the vocabulary that my teacher taught me and sentences that my teachers are using.

I still can’t catch a lot of English words. I am stressed out because I still can’t say English sentences and I can’t express my thoughts in English. That’s to be expected. I think it’s important to try to get English skills while enjoying so I have to turn my stress into a positive thing. When I study English , I do it very hard, I make the low and high points and I want to find my style of getting English skill. I feel insecure still now , I’m trying to do my best and I’m looking one step ahead.
And I can talk with the other students who was troubled in the same way, and could get through it.

My reason that I decided to come to GETS was I think teacher’s pronunciation on GETS’s HP was very clear.
Actually I can change my style in my classes just by asking my teacher and GETS’s teachers care very much about me and speak to me. Most Filipinos can take on new challenges so, I want to try it by receiving stimulation from my teachers.

It is also a way of studying to listen to the conversation of teachers and the other students when go out together on weekends and after class in the living room even though I can’t answer.

I’ve seen that foods in other schools in the Philippines is mostly Korean food and does not have good taste based on SNS of the other school in the Philippines BUT GETS’s foods are Philippine home-cooked meal and delicious. It seems to me that I am gaining weight.

Lifestyle seems like share house. I didn’t have experience about home stay, so I’m enjoying it now. If there were a lot of students, they would make groups. GETS has a small number of people system that’s why I spend time happily together and I don’t feel to isolated. (3 photos)
